Murder Mysteries and Stories
I have read two novels recently that have branched me out of my usual propensity toward reading contemporary women's fiction, historical novels, and love stories. Two books I just read back to back include: In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware, and Shelter by Jung Yun. The theme in each story centers on violent crime, but each story is very different. In In a Dark, Dark Wood, there are characters that you don't especially like, but the story is chilling, fast paced and frightening (on-the-edge-of-your-seat entertainment). In Shelter, you become fully invested in the characters, despite their flaws; the character study is amazing in this novel--the repercussions of failed family dynamics is what makes this story move. Two great reads; I highly recommend them.
